PLC Instability

Posterolateral rotatory instability can result in instability with normal gait. This occurs because of lateral compartment joint line opening which occurs at foot strike.

 
Varus thrusting which occurs at foot strike in a patient with a severe PLC injury.
 
Reduction of varus thrusting with gait.
