MCL Complex Instability

  1. Valgus Stress Test at 0°
  2. Valgus Stress Test at 30°
  3. KNEE HOME
For the valgus stress test at 30°, the examiner places his hands over the medial joint line while the other hand holds the foot/ankle.
A valgus stress is then applied to the joint through the foot, while the fingers palpate for any increase in joint line opening.
Initial position for valgus stress testat 30°. Fingers are over the joint line and the stress is applied through the foot / ankle.
A significant increase in valgus opening seen in a patient with a grade III (complete) MCL complex injury.
